Sugar Cravings: Lose Weight Fast

Today as I was have a bit of a sweet craving. I chose to give in to it. I am feeling very strong right now and not out of control this is why I chose to eat dessert. If you are feeling weak do not give into your cravings. I repeat. Do not give into your cravings. You will keep eating and there will be no stopping you. Later I will tell you what I ate.

It made me think of what happened the other day.  I was meeting with one of my weight loss clients. The conversation went something like this. She didn’t want to talk to me. She felt guilty for something she had eaten. She didn’t me to get mad at her. She told me she had eaten a donut. She told me how she ate it.

Let’s use this incident of eating donuts as the example. You are craving a donut. Someone else in your household couldn’t resist buying them. Of course not! After all they were on special. So you consciously, full of awareness decide that you are going to have a donut. You have finished your meal. You feel content but not completely full. You feel that you could eat the donut and still not feel overly full. You choose you are going to eat one donut. Before you start you tell yourself you are not allowed to feel guilty over eating the sweet. You will feel happy with your decision.  If you chose to feel negative about eating the donut, your mind can take you down a slippery slope. It can make you feel that you have ruined the whole day so what’s the use you’ll just eat whatever you want now. Now you have sabatosed the whole day of healthy eat.

Now that you have made a conscious decision to eat a donut, chose the one with the least amount of calories. This way you still get a donut but now have to rack up the calories while eating it. Don’t choose the cream filled or icing covered ones. Chose the round ones with the hole in the middle; this is your best bet.

Now that you have chosen your sweetie, you will eat it mindfully. Put it on a plate, use a fork and knife. Sit down. Cut it into tiny pieces. Savor each little piece. Enjoy the quietness or enjoy the company around you who is also eating their donuts. It’s not about how much you eat but rather how long it takes you to eat it.

As your weight loss story unfolds, you want to be able to eat all sorts of food, not just rabbit food. Always choose the lowest calorie food which you are craving. Make a conscious decision to eat without any guilt attached. If there is negative feelings attached you will continue to eat and not feel good about yourself. Feel good about what you are doing. Be aware of what you are doing. Now, go eat that donut without regret! Sugar cravings are no longer to fear. Enjoy your weight loss journey.

I was very proud of her how she ate her donut.  First of all, she made a conscious decision to eat the donut. She chose the donut wisely, making her calories count. She ate is mindfully, sitting down, pulling apart little pieces and enjoying every moment of every tiny piece.

I encouraged her to feel good about what she had recently eaten.  Also, count the carbs and fats as part of her daily intake. Feel good about what you are doing. Enjoy your weight loss journey. You too can have your cake and eat it too!

As I am writing this, still being very mindful I am eating, very slowly, a Fiber One Brownie + 1\4 cup vanilla ice cream.  At better choice would have been low fat dessert topping. I looked but we didn’t have any in the house. Now that is on my grocery list. My snack was a total of 150 calories. I used 1 carb and .66 of a dairy. My total for the day is 3-4 carbs and 2 dairy. I felt good about what I ate and It really hit the spot. I plan on my weight being down tomorrow.

If you are wondering how I count my carbs and fats. Contact me and I will share that info with you.
